Diwali 2018 in Rajasthan, come with us!

Diwali is one of the biggest and most likeable of all India’s festivals, and since it’s celebrated from November 5-9 this year, it coincides with our second small-group tour of Rajasthan, India (October 29-November 14 2018).

Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali signifies Illumination and the victory of good over evil – the parting of darkness with knowledge and wisdom.

For the five days of Diwali Hindus will be making offerings in the temples, shopping for new saris, decorating their floors with bright geometric patterns known as rangoli, lighting little clay oil lamps and …setting of fireworks.

Expect a boom crash orchestra like you’ve never seen before. This is a great time to visit the temples, the scented flower markets, where garlands of marigolds and frangipani are in huge demand and sample some of the special treats associated with Diwali.

We’ll be staying in Jodhpur and outside Jaipur during Diwali, at the gorgeous Ajit Bhawan, India’s first heritage hotel, and very lovely Savista Retreat outside Jaipur, two cities that will let their hair down for the celebrations. Like to experience India at its festive best?
