Mondrian Doha

Spent two nights in the Mondrian Doha.

It’s a new addition to the city’s hotels, the Mondrian is a super cool design with lots of oversize furnishings in public areas, sort of Alice in Wonderland meets 1001 Arabian Nights, with a side-serve of Las Vegas.  Rooms are great, very comfortable and spacious, with a supersize bathroom.

Also an ESPA just in case you need a massage, and a restaurant by Wolfgang Puck as well as a burger bar and a Japanese restaurant by chef Morimoto, TV’s Iron Chef.

The pool is on top and it’s a bit weird, indoors and under a glass canopy with mottled colours, homage to the Tiffany lamp apparently, but there’s a low bridge in the middle which means I couldn’t swim freestyle for more than 10 strokes on either side. Rooms start around $240 AUD per night and that’s a bargain.
