Tour Rome in a Fiat 500
We take in the sights of Rome aboard a fleet of tiny Fiat 500s, 1960s vintage. Zipping through the back alleys and along cobbled streets, there’s no better way to see the Colosseum.
A medieval hilltown
Our base is the medieval hilltown of Trevi, built around the 13th century Church of San Francesco. From here we explore trails through olive groves lined with shrines, once used by pilgrims en route to Rome.
Above the tiny village of Pettino, we`ll hunt for truffles. It’s a day of surprises, with sheep, truffle hounds, fresh pecorino cheeses and a wonderful meal of fresh pasta with truffles in a farmhouse kitchen.
In Rome we`ll stay at Due Torri, a small hotel just a short stroll from fabulous Piazza Navona. In Trevi, at the Antica Rocca Dimora, a historic building above the piazza.
Experience the culinary delights of Norcia, the capital of pork, taste Italy ‘s finest olive oils and Sagrantino wines, grown only around the town of Montefalco. At Redibis we’ll enjoy fine, contemporary Italian cuisine beneath Bevagna’s Roman amphitheatre.
As well as the noble cities of Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio and Orvieto we’ll wander in the hills of Umbria, exploring fortified hilltowns that overlook the Via Flaminia, the 3rd century Roman road.
