What items are not permitted on planes

Lighters, lithium batteries or coconuts are not permitted on planes

While flying from Delhi to Udaipur on our group tour of Rajasthan last October, we were amused by a sign at the check-in desk advising that coconuts were one of the items not permitted on board. After questioning the check in staff, it turns out that coconuts are on the International Air Transport Association’s Dangerous Gods Register.

Coconut meat, which has a high oil content, is highly combustible and therefore it’s forbidden either as hand luggage or in checked-in luggage.
