Which Swiss train pass should I buy?

Which Swiss train pass should I buy …is a question I get asked a lot, but the answer is pretty simple. If you plan to travel on trains on consecutive days, the Swiss Travel pass gives you unlimited travel on the entire rail, bus and boat Swiss Travel System network, including city trams and buses for 3,4,8 or 15 days.

This pass also covers scenic routes and gives a 50% reduction on most mountain railways and cable cars. If you want to stop in some places for a few days, explore then take another train, the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is the one for you, also available for 3, 4, 8 or 15 days. The Flex also gives you a 50% reduction on most mountain railways and cable cars, but on those days your card is activated so you’re losing a day of train travel.

Both passes also allow you to travel on Switzerland’s celebrated scenic rail journeys including the Glacier Express, the Bernina Express and the Gotthard Panorama Express, but for those trains a seat booking is required, at additional cost.
